What Does it Mean to Live a Conscious Lifestyle?

Do you ever feel like you are living on autopilot? Going through the motions of day to day life, constantly thinking about what needs to get done next, and never truly taking the time to slow down to enjoy the simple moments?

In today’s world, it can be easy to get caught up in the go-go-go mentality. We become so focused on our schedules, responsibilities, and everything we feel we need to accomplish that we often forget to check in with ourselves and slow down.

Living consciously means making intentional choices that support our overall wellbeing. We must have awareness, connection and intention for the choices that we make. Being aware of our habits, our surroundings, the people we spend time with, the products we use, and the way we choose to live our lives is so important. It is about creating a deeper connection with ourselves and realizing that the choices we make each day can shape how we feel and how we experience life.

It is so important to give ourselves permission to slow down, take a break, and give ourselves some grace along the way. Life is not meant to be a constant race to get to the next task or event. Sometimes, we need to step back from the busyness and allow ourselves to be fully present.

Is the life you are living truly supporting you mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually?

Self reflection is such an important part of personal growth. Taking the time to reflect allows us to process what we are experiencing, recognize what is and isn’t serving us, and understand where we may need to make changes. It allows us the opportunity to grow as individuals rather than continuing to follow the same routines simply because they are what we have always known.

Oftentimes, this reflection starts with asking ourselves a few simple questions.

Do the choices I make each day align with the life that I strive to live?

Am I happy at my current job or is it leaving me feeling unfulfilled and drained?

Do I understand the ingredients in the products I use, or should I take more time to learn what I am putting in and on my body?

These questions may seem small, but they truly can help us become more aware of the areas in our lives that deserve a bit more attention or change. They encourage us to look beyond our everyday routines and consider whether the way we are living reflects the values and morals that we hold and the life that we truly want to live.

It Starts With the Little Things

Living consciously does not mean that you have to change your daily habits overnight or make every decision perfectly. It starts with becoming more aware and intentional in life. Changing a small thing each day or even each week can greatly impact your life in a positive way that aligns better with the life you strive to live. Whether that is putting your phone down to be present with your loved ones, taking a few minutes to enjoy your morning instead of rushing into the day, being more mindful of the products that you use on your body as well as the foods you consume, or recognizing when you need to take a break and slow down, you only need to start with one change at a time! The goal for living consciously is not perfection, it is learning to live with more awareness, making choices that support our well being and giving ourselves grace along the way, especially when we feel overwhelmed.
